My Blackberry Pearl 8130 Keeps deleting the messages and calls in the call log?
-
I own a blackberry pearl 8130. My blackberry keeps deleting all the sms text messages and calls in the call log, by itself. I've googled this and it seems like this happens often... Does anyone else share this problem? If so have you done anything to do to fix it? Or is possible to fix it? Thanks in advance...

Answer:
Your Pearl is out of memory/space. Do you have an SD Media card? If so, transfer your videos to the card, or your usb to your computers. Clear read email messages, clear your browser cache. Go to Options, mobile network, then run a diagnostic check. There you will see how much space you have available. Then make sure you do a hard reset (pull the battery out for 30 seconds while fully on).

It is not a problem with your device. It is designed to do that when the memory gets too full. See tutorial: Symptom: Call Log Entries and Messages Auto Delete Due to Low Memory for a RIM BlackBerry Lost call log / Automatically deleted call log Lost SMS Text or e-mail Message / Automatically deleted SMS Text Message or e-mail BlackBerry Deletes Call Log BlackBerry Deletes, Deleted, or Deleting SMS or e-mail Cause: Cause 1 All RIM BlackBerry devices with handheld software version 4.2 or later utilize Low Memory Manager (LMM). Once the device memory reaches a threshold of 800kb or less, LMM will automatically remove data in order of importance to free up device memory. Once the device has reached full capacity, the device will not be able to store any new data such as SMS text, email, call log entries, etc. This is a list of the items which may be deleted: Low Priority: Delete attachment data, browser cache Medium Priority: Delete old calendar entries High Priority: Delete oldest e-mail messages NOTE: Saved messages will not be deleted. This list is not complete as there may be other items such as SMS text or call log entries which may be deleted. Cause 2 Switching between two applications on the device using ALT+ESC approximately 25 times will cause a memory leak. From this point on, switching applications on the device will cause an hourglass to appear for an extended period of time, which causes a large decrease in memory on the device. There is no ETA for resolution at this time. Fix: If the BlackBerry device becomes low on memory, perform the following Check the available memory on the RIM BlackBerry. Configure application options to reduce device memory used: Configure Calendar options to keep appointments 60 Days or less. Configure Call Logging options to Missed Calls or None. Configure Media options for "Device Memory Limit" and "Reserved Picture Memory". Configure Message options to keep messages 30 Days or less. Configure Picture options to "Store Pictures" to On Media Card. Clear the browser cache and cookies. Transfer media files from the device to the computer. Delete media files, such as music, pictures, ringtones, or video Uninstall or remove programs that are not used often, such as games or third-party applications. NOTE: BlackBerry Sample Video may be removed by this method. Perform a hard reset. Check the available memory after the hard reset. Remove unused languages For RIM BlackBerry devices using Multilanguage Handheld Software version 4.2 or later, perform the following: Scroll to and select the BlackBerry Setup icon (to select press the trackball in). Scroll to and select the Setup Wizard icon. On the "Language Removal" screen, uncheck any languages that will not be used. Complete the remainder of the Setup Wizard. For RIM BlackBerry devices using Handheld Software version 4.2 or later, uninstall languages using BlackBerry Desktop Manager Application Loader. If the issue still persists, perform the following, checking the available memory after each step Perform a hard reset. Remove Phone Call and SMS log databases from the BlackBerry device using BlackBerry Desktop Manager Backup and Restore. Perform an application load to erase all applications and install the latest BlackBerry Handheld Software.

How bizarre - do you pershaps have it set like that? Does it do this randomly during the day - when you sync it - or when you power it on/off?? There are a few websites that specifically have blackberry forums. You might want to try posting there. sorry I can't be of more help.
