Someone stole my phone and I have a number they called. What can I do?

• So someone stole my cell phone on Sat. and I suspended service later that day (I wasn't sure if it'd been stolen, yet). Now service is suspended, but I have two questions: 1) Should I report it stolen to the insurance provider even though I'm not going to file an insurance claim? (I have an old phone I can use, so I don't need to file the insurance claim). 2) I looked at my billing statement online and the person who stole the phone sent two texts to a phone number in Little Rock, AK. I just called the number (blocked my own home phone) and someone answered, but I hung up. I just wanted to know if it was an actual person, or what. BUT can I do anything with that info.?---obviously, this person who's number I now have is the person--or knows the person--who stole my phone. Anything? Also, my phone was stolen in a different city and I'm back home now, so I almost just want to forget it about it and just turn the phone off.
