Verizon has the largest network, although the best way to tell what would cover your area best is to ask customers of the different carriers, the maps of coverage can be very misleading and inaccurate.

It all depends on where you live and what type of calls you make. If you only make local calls then a cheaper local plan will suffice. If you travel a lot and make calls from various locations to other locations, then a national plan through Sprint or some other provider would be best.
