How does the Wi-Fi on the iPod touch work?

Ipod touch wifi doesn't work question?

  • Hi I don't actually have an ipod touch but i was looking to buy one and someone is selling a 3rd gen ipod touch and says the wifi doesn't work. Does anyone know if this is permanent or can be fixed? I want to be able to use wifi but I don't know if an ipod's wifi can really not work or not? I won't buy it if wifi is unfixable.

  • Answer:

There could be many reasons for an iPod's internet to not be working. It could be that a connection on the inside of it came loose, or it could have been damaged from multiple drops etc. The chances are very low, but it might be perfectly fine, and the seller had a problem with their wireless modem. I can't say for sure. Ask them for more details, like when it stopped working, and what they've tried etc. Odds are that it could get fixed by Apple (though it costs a ton and you'd be better off to buy a new one), or you could find a local electronics vendor that does repairs - these can fix complicated problems for under $50. From the information given, I can't say for sure if it is fixable or not, but good luck :)
