Help with iPod nano?

IPod nano 3rd generation vs iPod classic. Help!?

  • Just yesterday, Apple released new iPod models. The iPod nano 3rd generation and the iPod Classic. I was confused which one to buy, whether ipod nano or ipod classic. I'll tell you why. The iPod video before (the last one before iPod classic was released) costs $249 for the 30 GB and $349 for the 80 GB. And now, the iPod classic (its just like iPod video but MORE nice features, in short, MUCH BETTER than iPod Video!) it costs $249 for the 80 GB and $349 for the 160 GB. Yes, there is a 160 GB already! they didn't make a 30 GB one anymore. And for the iPod nano 2nd generation, the 8 GB one was $249. Imagine this --> iPod nano 2nd generation 8GB same price as iPod classic 80GB?!?! surprising right??? NO KIDDING! That is the correct pricing! look at the comparison: ipod video 30gb - $249 ipod video 80gb - $349 ipod classic 80 gb - $249 ipod classic 160gb - $349 I'm not lieing! that's the truth! you can check out the price at apple.com. Please tell me what you think. Thanks guys!!!

  • Answer:

Both the iPod Classic (Which replaced the "iPod Video") and the iPod Nano can play videos so it's up to you if you want a smaller iPod or more (much more) storage space. There was never really an iPod Video (just an iPod that could play video) and now every new iPod that has a screen can play video.

Dude that's apple they replace old products with nicer, better, and more down to earth price for the holiday season. these are now the ONLY iPods that will be selling: iPod Shuffle 1gb - 79 Refreshed Colors iPod Nano 4gb, 8gb - 149, 199 Wider Screen, Video Playback & Games, new ui iPod Classic 80gb, 160gb - 250, 350 Thinner(!), more memory-great price, new ui iPod Touch 8gb, 16gb -299, 399 iPhoneless ipod w/ wifi All the others have been discontinued. ipods have what are called - a universal dock-connecter this can be used as a usb charger/sync cable (usb 2.0, included in box along with earphones and a adapter) and ipod speakers are equipped with a dock-connecter plug. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ipodlounger/1337667134/in/set-72157601897176809/

The 30 GB and 80 GB 5G iPods will be discontinued. They will be replaced with the iPod classic, with similar pricing for more space. The new iPod nano is a much smaller unit than the classic. That's probably the reason it's higher. Either way I got to say the iPod Touch was the big thing to look at. I want one already.

Thats the thing that surprised me as well. I generally didnt like the Ipod that much before, because i had to use Itune to transfer the songs to the Ipod, and was looking for alternatives such as Samsung. But since the release of the new Ipods, and their prices. I will now have to definitely get an Ipod, either the Nano or the Classic. Apple is really into it and they are now way ahead of their competitors by releasing these new Ipod updates.

The true reason that both the nano and the classic are equal in price is because the difference in how the memory is stored. The ipod classic and the first generation ipods use what's called a hard drive in their ipods, while the nano, ipod touch, and the ipod shuffle all use what's called flash memory. Flash memory is known to be better in that its much more mobile and good for use with running and fast paced sports, studies have shown that too much motion on an ipod with a hard drive such as the ipod classic can eventually lead to damage of the ipod. It all depends on what and/or how you are going to be using your ipod when deciding which ipod is right for you!

Well everything cost less because apple is starting to get a lot more competition from Sony, Creative and other companies sporting new small video/mp3 players.
