Which iPod has longer battery life?

Ipod Touch - Does turning off the ipod touch completely saves battery life?

  • Does turning off the ipod touch completely saves battery life? or is it just the same when ipod touch is on a sleep/ standby mode? I goolged some tips on how to conserve the battery life of the ipod and found out that turning off the ipod completely does not conserve battery life and its better to leave it on standby mode instead? is this true? I just got my ipod touch 3rd gen and the power does not last a days as claimed on the website that it can last up to 30hrs =(

  • Answer:

This all depends on how long you leave the iPod Touch turned off for. You see, when it is off, it uses even less power then in power saving mode but when you start it up again, the start up process uses more power then when it is in a wake state. Thus if you are not going to use it for a while (ie over 6 hours) turn it off. Otherwise, just put it in standby mode to conserve power.

it depends for how long you do it. If it is for a short period of time standby/sleep is the best because it is known as a "low power mode." When you turn on your ipod it takes a lot of energy out of the ipod, but it also takes up energy a bit if you keep it on too long which is not what is happening in your situation. I suggest if you want to save battery life throughout a day put it on sleep, otherwise i would suggest keeping it off

I've been having the same problem. When it's on you are essentially putting it to sleep by pressing the top button so it is still consuming battery. When you turn it off completely you are saving battery but I have found that it consumes a lot of battery when it is starting up again. For long periods of time it seems worth it but I always keep a charger handy.

Yes, it does. If you turn the device off completely, there is nothing there to drain the energy out of the battery. However, if it stays turned off for an extended period of time (a few weeks or so), it may be required for you to recharge the battery before you could use the device again. Over longer periods of time, if not in use, batteries lose the energy that was stored in them.

Mine seems to lose power, it shows about 30% and I turn it off and back on then it is 15% my suggestion is to keep brightness low that increases power, for me I go from 6 hrs bright to 25 without it

Jacob

it saves it technically, but mine seems to lose even more energy when it starts back up again
