How long will my 4gb iPod last?

How many songs does a 4GB MINI iPod hold?

  • i have 957 songs on my itunes right now.. and whenever i try to update my ipod(add the new songs on to it) it says that there isnt enough space... is my computer messed up..or is it right? how many songs can my 4GB mini hold? please help me =]

    You have to understand 4 GB means (approximately) 4000 MB and songs usually run around 4 MB apiece. So you should be able to store around 1000 songs. This is not a fixed number. It depends on a number of factors: the duration of the song, the compression quality of the song, the compression format, and any space taken up by pictures or videos. In answer to your question it doesn't seem like there is anything wrong with your computer or your mini. If you really want to put more songs on your iPod you will have to reduce the compression quality of some of the songs already on there.

1000 four minute songs your songs might be longer than four minutes and so it takes up more space. the longer your songs, the less you can put on it. the shorter your songs, the more you can put on it. i have the same ipod and it has 1067 songs but my songs are mostly around 3 minutes long.

usually depends on how long the songs are, the bit rate, other stuff oyu may have on there, etc, but it is at about its limit- 950-1100 songs for 4gb but why would you want more songs, are you going to listen to it for 5 days straight or something??
