How can I bypass school filters on my iPod touch?

I have a 4th generation iPod and my school blocks apps like Facebook or YouTube... I looked at other questions asking something like this, but all the answers give is links for websites listing "proxys", which I have no idea what they are... So if someone could explain what they are and how to use them, that would be great :D

Concentrate on school when you're in school.

Try downloading the Opera Mini app. It's a different browser than safari but it passes through my school filter. The only problem is you can't watch flash videos (youtube, etc) but you can use facebook.
