Why isn't my iPod touch connected to my computer?

I reset my iPod touch, when I connected it to my computer it told me to restore, but it will not restore! Help?

I was being stupid and reset my network settings and along with that all songs were deleted, I then connected my iPod to my computer and iTunes, it comes up on screen "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "Rachael's iPod" go to the summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings" I then did this, but when I go to restore, it also says it will update my iPod software, but when I go to do this, i cannot as network connection timed up because I reset my network! Please help, I desperately need my iPod! Thank you!

I had that SAME problem, i honestly don't know how i did it but i just messed around with it. so kinda just play with it and you will figure it out
