How do I transfer music directly from my computer to an iPod?

How can i transfer music from an ipod to a computer?

  • My external Hard drive fried and i had itunes installed on it and all my music stored on it. I still have my ipod with all the music on it but if i plug it into my computer it might try to "wipe out" my ipod. I want all my old songs on my computer but i do not want to go through the hassle of getting 3k songs back. is there any way to get the music on my ipod to transfer to my computer?

    I have the answer for you, however this answer is for PCs only. It is quite simple. Plug in your iPod into the computer. Go to My Computer and locate your iPod drive. Open it up. If you're running on XP, you can go to Tools > Folder Options > View. Under "Hidden Files and Folders" click "Show hidden files and folders." If you're running on Vista, you have to go to the Control Panel then to Folder Options then do the same thing. Now go back to your iPod folder then there should be a folder called "Music." This is all your music. Copy it to your hard drive then you are done. All the file names will be odd, however this is still your music.

Sorry to tell you this but its not possible the files have to be already backed up to the hard drive of the computer.What you can do is to manually change the settings on itunes so that u can manually manage the music and it will only try and sync the ipod if u tell it to besides that it will only charge. try that.

On a pc enable hidden folders in the control panel>folder options>view, Then go to my computer>iPod, a hidden folder titled "ipod control" should be there.Once there take the music file and drag the whole thing into your computer. The songs titles are coded but iTunes can read the songs titles.
