Can a 2gb mp4 player play a full featured avi movie (around 700mb) continuously, once it is converted?

I'm about to purchase an asian brand 2gb mp4 player on ebay. I asked the seller if it can play a over an hour long movies without going stop/start static movements while playing the movie. In reply the seller stated that it "If you convert to the asf file into the size which can play 1 hr" . Does this mean that the mp4 player can only play 1 hour long movies?
