What is the highest quality of video my PS Vita can play?

• I'm not sure exactly how this system differs from the PSP. But I've tried a variety of the standard video conversion formats for the PSP, trying to get the highest quality possible. From 320x240, to 368x208, to 720x480, mostly that, because it's the highest resolution. But it leaves a black border on my screen which is kind of a waste. Also, I heard somewhere that the PS Vita will actually play 720p video. So I thought maybe if I used the typical 720p conversion for PS3, it would play on my Vita. But it says that it's unable to play my 720p videos. I was wondering what format would be best suited to my PS Vita in terms of conversion. Also, if you have a better method than Format Factory I should hear about it. The selection on the PlayStation Network Store is pretty pathetic and worthless, and I'd rather just convert the videos I already own to the optimum PS Vita format. That will take up the entire screen and be of the highest quality possible.
