How do I put music on my iPod Nano?

I just got a iPod Nano my mom bought off her managers daughter today. Well, it looks the 'iPod Nano 7th Gen. (Old Model)' from Amazon. And anyways, she told my mom to tell me NOT to sync it etc etc. Well since I HAD a crappy Toys R Us MP3 I don't even know what that means....And I want to delete songs through my computer. Not iTunes. Please help D: The only folders in it are called "Contacts", "Calendar", and "Notes"

You have to use iTunes to delete the music. Syncing the music means adding music into the iPod.
