What are the advantages and disadvantages of jailbreaking an ipod touch?

  • I have an old ipod touch (3rd generation) and I'm thinking of jailbreaking it, so what are the good and bad things and do you recommend it?

    Advantages- ~More customization ~More apps, lots of them not approved for the App Store yet ~Lots of free stuff to download Disadvantages- ~Voids warranty ~Slows the iPod down ~You can't update if Apple comes out with an iOS update. You'll lose all of your jailbroken settings and apps if you do. Personally, I never jailbroken my iPod. I want to, but I'm waiting at least until the warranty is up. You can reset the iPod back to factory settings if you want the want the warranty restored, but I still don't want to take any risks. It's all up to you if you decide to jailbreak or not.

I've also got the 3rd gen and never jailbroke it. My iPod does everything I want, and I have the peace of mind that while my iPod might fail I'll never ne one of those losers who post hysterical questions on Yahoo about how their iPods got messed up after they were jailbroken.
