What are the basic apps that come with the iPod touch 2g?

How come my dad will not let me get the iPod touch 2G?

  • My dad said that the iPod touch was an "adult device" and that it is unsafe in that you have the capability of visiting unsafe websites via Wi-Fi + Safari. I told him that iPod touch does not get viruses (despite the possibility) and that most of the Wi-Fi connection that you use is utilized by the applications. He responded with "But still!" and added that he'll talk about it again once I'm much older and responsible enough. I'm almost 15 and I think that the iPod touch is not an 'adult device'. It is just an iPod with Multi-Touch, Wi-Fi, and applications, almost exactly like my computer, the very one I'm using to type up details for this question. How do I convince him that I'm old enough?

  • Answer:

same with my parents, my suggestion is be reasonable with him, be mature, show him that it's perfectly harmless, chucking a tantrum wont get you anywhere except probably grounded. Keep reminding him, how it'll help with your school work or something, and how you deserve to have one, do chores offer to take the bin out, wash the dishes and his car, but don't suck up and be all 'daddy if i do this can you get me this', dont just suddenly start doing all the chores just to get the iPod touch, just casually help when someone needs it, and offer to do stuff cuz if you do it all quickly he'll know somethings up. anyway good luck!

because they are expensive and he doesnt want to spend alot on some thing that has the possibility to be destroyed. you put it in your pocket and sit it on its broken. how about you save your money and buy it yourself? that would show great responsibility. if the money really is in a savings account that has solely your name on it than you can take the money out and buy it. but if it has either of your parents names on it, the you cant take the money out. an iPod is not a toy, sorry. its very different than a computer in the sense that its very delicate. ive seen people drop them on accident and the screen cracks or half the screen partially dies. edit - when i say save your money, get a job and buy one. your job, your money, your iPod.

youre 15 and your dad is in charge of you until you are 18. you could calmly and maturely ask him what his reasons are as to why you he wont even let you pay for it. he would know better then we would. the best you can do is get a job. minimum wage here is 5.35 you could make $230 in 40 hours. then since it is truly your money, you can go to the store and buy it all by yourself.

If you want to inpress him save up for one. But you need a wireless config anyway... The touch doesnt come with an internet already set up, you need your own modem. Also your dad can put a lock on all +18 Sites etc. That is wat my dad did but i dont care, i really use it for the music

That is very dumb, it's your money not his you should be able to have one so just keep telling him it's your money so it should be your choice

It might be the cost issue or the control issue. Cost: obvious. he doesn't want to pay for it. offer to pay for it yourself, or at least a little bit. Control: your laptop is not something you can carry around easily, and takes a lot more space than a ipod. If you got an ipod, you'd be able to access the internet wherever you are. Not to mention your friends may pressure you to go on certain websites that he considers too inappropriate. If that's the case, allow him to block sites he thinks are dangerous.

well im 15 in 3 days and i think that the real reason would be a money problem i mean its like 400 bucks up front then its like another 30 bucks a month because you cant use it without internet then there is the calls and texts you make witch is more money. Besides that maybe he thinks you will just break it. Try showing him reviews from cnet they have they give it a GREAT review and info on it. Good luck!

I don't think you can convince him, unless you show him that you have a sense of responsibility and you deserve it. If you can't convince him, try to come up with the money to buy it yourself. That will definitely show him some responsibility.
