Is there a way I can convert CD files to mp3?

I need to take MP3 files and convert to WMA for playing CD's in my car.?

I have a large music collection in my Windows media player and the majority , if not all , are in MP3 format. I'm taking a road trip and want to burn some CD's. I really dont think the car is going to play the MP3 format , only a WMA file. How can I select / build a playlist and then convert to WMA, then burn them ? Is it possible ? Im unsure of the year, Honda Accord but, what year did factory CD player's in general ,start accepting MP3 format ? Im thinking around 2002 , 2004 ?
