My Xbox 360 wont play my music on my iPod?

  • ok well when i hook up my iPod to my xbox 360 and i go to the dashboard and go to media. I go to music and it shows that its recognized my iPod and it shows all the music and artists and all that. But none of the songs play on it. I tried to play all of them and they all just show a Cautions sign(you know a circle with a slash in the middle) i don't know why. Its played my iPod music before but it wont now. Plzzz help!

  • Answer:

It could be that it can't read the songs because of the format. iTunes by default encodes songs that you rip into iTunes into AAC format, instead of MP3 format. I doubt that the XBOX 360 can play AAC audio tracks, since Windows Media Player can't. If you want to make your entire iTunes library MP3 instead of AAC, go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced, then click on the Importing tab. Where it says Import Using, change it to MP3 Encoder from AAC Encoder. When you go back into your iTunes library and right click on a song, you will then have the option to convert it to MP3. This will make a new file of the same song, but in a different format. Be sure to delete the old AAC version that you don't take up twice the space. You can select multiple items and then right clicking by holding down Ctrl and clicking.
