How do you "JailBreak" and iPod Touch?

How do you jailbreak an ipod touch 2g that already has the 3.0 update on it?

• i bought the 3.0 update for my ipod touch for $9.95 a couple weeks ago, but now i want to jailbreak it for free apps and such. does anyone know where i can do that? every time i search for the jailbreak, i get the instructions for the 3.0 update + jailbreak. i only neeed jailbreak.

  I have jailbroken my Ipod touch 2g 3.0 firmware yesterday and it works perfectly fine with redsn0w. You should first backup all of your apps, musics, contacts, etc. into itunes before jailbreaking!!! With a jailbroken ipod, you can access cracked apps from the app store through installous (cydia app) and change your background and theme (winterboard, another cydia app), etc. The only fallback to jailbreaking is that you will void your warranty from apple. However, you can access 3rd party applications, which is awesome :D If you are planning to jailbreak your ipod, i recommend using redsn0w 0.72.
