Is there any way to transfer songs from an iPod onto another computer?
-
I'm trying to figure out a way to get my girlfriend into some new music. She has an iPod synced to her computer, and I have an iPod synced to mine. I was wondering if there was a way I could plug my iPod into her computer and put some songs off of mine onto her computer without deleting them from my iPod. I can't seem to figure it out though... any help?

Answer:
The most convenient and secure way is to use an iPod-to-computer transfer program to help you, like this handy one called Tansee iPod Transfer http://www.gutensoft.com/Utilities/Tansee-iPod-Transfer.htm Many of my friends are using it for its easy and safe transfer. The whole process goes as follows: Firstly install this program on her computer. When you plug your iPod to the computer, this program will instantly display all songs and videos on the iPod.You simply select what you wish to transfer and click "Copy" button. Done. All your selected files will be copied to her computer safely. Now you can easily add those songs and videos to her iTunes library. See detailed guide. More importantly, this won't overwrite any original files on your iPod. And all song names are preserved. Here is step-by-step guide on the whole process: http://gutensoft.com/Guide/How-to-transfer-songs-and-videos-from-ipod-to-computer.htm Best luck! You can also search more other ways at http://ask.com

There is no Apple-supported way to do this, but you can use a flash drive (thumb drive) to move your music to her iTunes library. An iPod will only match what is in one library, so by moving the music with a flash drive you are bypassing the restrictions and going straight to the source. In your music folder on your PC, click on the "itunes music" folder. Then click on "artists". You want to make sure to NOT copy the "itunes library" file. After that, select all the artist names in that folder and right click to copy them. Then go to "my computer" and find the icon for your flash drive. Click on it, and when that window opens right click to paste all those artists. Now your music is on your flash drive. Plug the flash drive into the USB port on her computer. Open the "my computer" window. Click on the icon for your flash drive. Select all the artist names and click to drag them into your itunes library (you must open the itunes application to do this)

copyright reasons iPods can only sync/connect to one computer at a time to avoid people sharing the way you do. It will offer for you to erase and sync your iPod with the new computer so you’ll lose everything. There is a program that exists that claims you can do this but I tried it and it didn’t work. I was using my dad’s laptop before so when I bought my own lap top, I tried the program as to transfer my own music files and it didn’t work. I had to erase and start from scratch. My lap top has a small memory so my iTunes files are stored on an external hard drive. I took my external hard drive to my dad’s house and I wanted to put them onto my user account on his new computer so I cold listen to them. So I opened the folder and drug them into iTunes and it copied the “files”. The Computer’s not registered to me so I know it’s not impossible to share these files computer to computer Another thing I do is… on my Mac I have 2 user accounts. One for me and one for my Husband. I duplicated all the music files and put them from my iTunes into his iTunes. Now his iPod will sync on his account and he can add or delete any songs to personalize his iPod with out effecting my iTunes. The files we share aren’t infringing copyright laws because we paid for them. Another thing I can say is on some iTunes purchases or songs off limewire etc cam be put on a cd then imported into her library, but again I’ll state for the record. copyright

Although iTunes program is very good at keeping a computer-based library synchronized to an iPod automatically it provides exreamly limited functionality for transferring info in the opposite direction-from your iPod back to your computer. one of the likely reasons for Apple to have taken such a restrictive approach to this is to combat piracy and thereby maintain good relations with the music brands that are selling their selling their content via Apple iTunes Store. so it has therefore fallen into the three party developers to pick up where iTunes left off in this regard. and i give a high recommendation to Aniosoft iBackup, which is very robust and full-featured utilitie that will do everything from basic coping of media content back to your hard drive all the way through to rebuilding your entire library using the info on your iPod,complete with playlists, ratings ,and play count info.Among all these apps i would like to recommend Aniosoft ibackup.it enables you to transfer iPod's music and other content to any storage device and iTunes as well. And both the backup in the storage device can be recovered and restored with no any change and no any risk. And the data in the iTunes is quite in accord with the iPod's data including its playlists, rating and etc. So in your case, you can make a music transfer from your iPod to the iTunes in your computer with this tool and also make a backup for the ipod's content somewhere in your computer as well. more details at http://www.aniosoft.com
