  • Answer:

my ipod did the same thing. never fully charged after the first. battery runs down even when off and hold switch on. i hate the damn thing. it sits here in my desk drawer. i wish i had never spent the money on the thing. and, i dont like the fact that i cannot just change a battery for power. i have to be chained to a computer for recharging. what the hell do i need 500 songs on it for anyhow? not only that, it downloads ever sound my computer makes as soon as i plug it in. it will also download all the pictures it can. what, am i supposed to go in and uncheck evey dang file on my computer i dont want on the ipod? forget it. its a waste of money and i dont recommend it to anyone.

You know how u bought it in January, I think u were supposed to charge it first before you listen to it. Also, you have to charge it for longer than 30 minutes. If that doesn't work, try to mess with the hold switch, you know the thing on the top of the iPod, like move it back and fourth. Try going to this website. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

1st - Try restoring it. This is done by pluging it into iTunes and clicking restore. (WARNING - This erases all memory so make sure you back it all up! See bottom) 2nd - Call 1-800-MY-APPLE and explain your problem to them. 3rd - Visit an Apple Store and have them look at it. How to Back-up Music & Video: Insert a blank (CD for music and DVD for movie) and click File > Back up to disc. I hope this helps. If not - contact me

Maybe your iPod is old, because you bought it in Jan. of 06.
