Why isn't my iPod touch connected to my computer?

ITunes not finding iPod Touch?

My iTunes (latest version) isnt finding my new ipod touch, where as it did for a while before. It's now coming up with a warning saying "This iPod can not be used because the requiard software is not installed. Run the installer again to remove iTunes and reinstall" I wouldnt have a clue about what its on about! I'm using a windows computer, and on my mac, its just saying "no Ipod connected" but my iPod is still charging and is acting as if it is connected? I have tried deleting itunes and downloading it again, thats when it stopped working. So i did it again like the warning says, but still no difference. Help!
