How do i make a cd into mp3 format so i can put it on a mp3 player?

my kids bought their dad an mp3 player and he has his favourite cd's that he wants to take the music from, how do i take the music from a cd to make it mp3? i have Nero but i don't know how to use it, or don't you use Nero?? is there some other program i need?

I believe that Nero has a rip function built in which should allow you to take the music from your cd and copy it to your computer. I'm not certain exactly how to do it with Nero, but that program was pretty easy to use when I've used it in the past. Or, assuming you have a Windows PC, you can always use Windows Media Player to rip your CDs. It may be a little easier to rip your music with Windows Media Player if you are going to want to sync your mp3 player to load it with music. To use WMP, put the CD in your drive, click the "rip" tab in WMP and it will copy the CD onto your computer and into your WMP library. Hope that helps.

If it's a CD, the files on that CD is most likely WMA, alot of the Mp3 players now days will play WMA, doubt Ipod will. Zune will though. Okay, first what you wanna do is RIP the songs off that CD by using Windows Media Player, if they dont support that anymore see if you can explore the cd my right clicking on the cd and going to explore. If you see 1Kb shortcuts forget it, you need to rip the files out. Once its done, you can try putting the WMA into the Mp3 player to see if plays, if does great saves you a step! If not, you can get Winamp and it will convert wma to mp3's format. Then put it into the Mp3 player. its kinda hard to explain but i cant write the whole tutorial right now, im writing thinking you know computers =] good luck!
