How does shuffle mode work?

Is there a way to filter out audiobooks or language lessons from iPod's shuffle mode?

  • I have language lessons in MP3 format which I loaded on to my 60gb photo iPod. Perfect, right? Nope. Because when I go into shuffle mode, I'll get a song, then a language lesson, then a song, etc. Skipping past the spoken word tracks becomes more of a hassle than it's worth. So...is there a way to load the files on to my ipod but to segregate them somehow from the shuffle mode? I love using shuffle mode for my music -- but it just doesn't jibe with spoken word files. Any advice on what to do to keep these files separate? Thanks!

  • Answer:

Create a smartplaylist of everything but those files. Than in the Ipod set it to random play (within a playlist album etc. Do this by going too Settings>shuffle in the Ipod. Than open that special playlist and play it shuffled!
