How do I put my music from my Ipod Nano into a new Itunes account on a new computer?
-
I've got a new computer and need to transfer the Ipod music I have into my library within I-Tunes on my new computer. (I've downloaded I-Tunes on to the new computer). When I connect it with the USB it says it will erase all the content of the Ipod. My old computer isn't working so all of I-Tunes account and content has been wiped :¬(

Answer:
*an iPod is just like a storage device - kinda like a USB. so all ur music/videos are in there but hidden -- all u need to do is unhide them *before continuing-make sure u have iTunes ;) *now just follow these steps: 1) connect ur iPod to ur PC/laptop 2) when iTunes opens up - DON'T CHOOSE THE "erase + sync" option. if iTunes didn't open don't worry 3) anyways go to My Computer > Apple iPod (disk) or whatever u named it (my iPod) 4) open it, and open the folder called "iPod_Control". if its not their - then go to the Adress bar and type this: iPod_Control 5) it will open and ull find folders called tones, gamestats, or whatever. now right-click in any space and un-check the HIDDEN option.. > "apply changes to this folder, subfoler, and files" 6) then ull see many more folders, including "MUSIC" if its not there, then type in the Adress Bar: Music 7) when u opened that folder, ull c other folders called "F-08"/"F-14"/etc. if they're not there, then right-click in any space and un-check the "HIDDEN" option.. 8) then there are all the folders with your music and videos! don't worry if the names are "DHSJ" or "FJDS".... 9) all u need to do know is copy eeeeeeeeeeverything into ANOTHER folder on ur desktop or anywhere u want in ur laptop/pc 10) open iTunes, and drag all ur songs/videos FROM THE FOLDER U CREATED ON UR DESKTOP OR ANYWHERE ELSE in the iTunes library. there names will come back! 11) then just sync ur iPod! GOOD LUCK! E-MAIL ME IF U HAVE ANY QUESTIONS!

Download X-Play here: http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay/ Not only can you copy your music off your IPod and onto your PC (I used it to "Nick" by brothers music off his), but it enables your IPod to be used with Windows Media Player as a normal music device! Or get in touch with ITunes. When my laptop broke, they allowed me to re-download all of my songs that I had bought off of Itunes for free! And they also threw in 4 free songs into the bargin! Hope this helps!

There is NO need to download software free or not free! This is what I found: http://www.scribd.com/doc/430605/How-to-Copy-Songs-From-Your-iPod-to-Your-PC Don't forget to go into the music folder that you made to move the music into and right click and go to properties of each music folder and under Attributes UNCHECK Hidden and Read Only otherwise I-tunes won't read it when you Add Folder To Library. I am doing the same thing because I originally bought i-tunes music on my ex's computer as well as downloaded music from her personal CD collection that was on her computer i-tunes. Glad to be rid of her but I really want to keep the music! So far it works very well! Good luck!

Apple makes it hard to do. You have to find some outside software that will let you pull stuff off the iPod. You might want to try "iPod to Computer Transfer 4.8." I can't say for sure if it will still work, but you can search for other programs that do the same thing. Almost every time a group makes new software to do this, Apple soon turns around and breaks the ability to do it, again. Here's a link to try that software: http://www.download.com/iPod-to-Computer-Transfer/3000-2141_4-10665647.html I hope this helps you. Good luck!

1. You should KEEP your itunes store account ID as tunes cannot be transferred between accounts. 2.The ipod is NOT the master location of your music its the computer you should copy the itunes folder from your old computer to the new on then pair the ipod with the new computer and it will re-sync exactly what itunes tells it to!! 3: Itunes/iPOD for beginners:- The ipod is designed to work with and be the slave to itunes on the computer to which its paired. If you do not pair a ipod to a computer you cannot alter its settings. If you pair your ipod to a new computer it overwrites what's on it. Simply dragging music onto an ipod does NOT make that music playable it then acts as hard disk. To make the music playable you MUST use itunes to sync with it as only itunes can put the music files in the correct file names (not the same as on the computer) in hidden folders and create the hidden indexes for them to be playable. I suggest copying the contents of the "iTunes Music" folder on your old computer onto the new one by USB hard disk, USB Flash memory or DVD-r You cannot transfer music from an ipod to itunes as Itunes is the MASTER location of the music files. if you NEED to transfer music form your ipod to the computer as you have lost the original you need a 3rd party application (I use Yamipod for mac) but a whole range can be found on www.versiontracker.com and enter ipod transfer in the search box under your operating system. once you have the utility installed run it and close itunes! connect the ipod (if itunes starts up and asks if you want to pair say NO and close itunes again). then with the utility transfer the songs form the ipod to your hard disk. Then disconnect the ipod, START itunes... drop the files you have just transferred onto the itunes Library and once the files have been copied into the library you can delete the originals (NEVER MOVE or touch the itunes folder on your computer otherwise you will lose the music let itunes manage it for you). Now reconnect the ipod and when it asks pair say YES and it will transfer the music to your computer. When you pair the ipod to a computer it erases ALL the previous library and tracks and replaces it with what the current computer want it to. if you want to erase the ipod you select RESTORE form the ipod's tab in itunes then it re formats and re installs the ipods firmware resetting everything to default values and removing the lock (except for the touch which asks for the code to allow this) the ipod needing a master player to sync with is NOT unique to apple Creative, Zune, Sony al have one of one sort or another.
