How many songs does a 8GB Ipod touch hold?

    it depends on the file size.. most websites includingiTunes used to sell you songs at 128kbps. iTunes have now started selling them at higher "resolution" (256kbps) which means you could plug them into big speakers and play them really loud and they'd still sound good. if you download a 256 from itunes, you can always downsize it on your computer to 128 - there is a command in itunes to do it if you want. this means that for normal sized songs (which are about 3 or 4 megs each) you can get 2000 songs on an 8 gig. apple are probably playing safe on their website, because an 8gig doesn't actually have 8 gig free - the system software and stuff takes up some space. and by the way it's 1750 songs OR some videos, not AND some videos. so you might end up with say 500 hi res songs, and 5 full length movies. my iphone is 16 gig. i have 1300 songs, 400 photos, and 8 full length movies, (sin city, alien, 300, i am legend etc) and space left over

This really depends on the size of the files that you are importing, and the running time of the music. For example, if you have a ton of songs that are 20+ minutes long, then you should only be able to fit about 400 or so songs of that length. Also, don't forget that the OS of the ipod takes up about 1 GB, and other things take up 110MB. So right out of the box, you have only about 6.89 GB to work with. Normal length songs (about 4 minutes long) are only about 3 MB each, so you should be able to fit about 1500-1600 songs on these. Don't forget that you should leave some room for apps, so you may only want to put about 1000 songs on. That is really your decision though.

The 8gb touch is supposed to hold as many as 1750 songs. That also means no video, programs, pictures ect.

about 2 before itunes fails, the mac hardware implodes and the sound that comes out the headphones impregnates your hampster. i suggest you go with something a little less.... apple

don't believe anything you read, it varies according to what you got...its all about how much music you can fit........ if your songs are mainly house/techno tracks that are 10mins long (in high quality) and therefore around 15mb then you will have less space than if you have songs that are 3mins long and roughly 6mb....it's all about the size of your songs. try putting dj mix in there and see if you can fit 1700 of them...let alone 100.
