I have an ipod nano and all i have to do is delete the songs or pictures on itunes and then plug in the ipod to the computer. This will update your ipod

Songs and pictures must be removed in the iTunes software. Your songs will be updated when you sync your iPod. You cannot remove songs or pictures directly from the iPod.
