What is wrong with my plasma screen?

What is your opinion on using Plasma Screen Televisions for Powerpoint Presentations?

• As we look to stay on the cutting edge, I'd like to get some educated and experienced opinions on Plasma Screen Televisions and Presentations. I run the media department for a summer camp, and for all of our PowerPoint and other video presentation needs, we use a projector. We are however toying around with idea of using two large Plasma screen television sets to present PowerPoints instead. Has anyone tried this? How effective has it been? What obstacles have you faced thus far? Any input would be great. Thanks!

  I haven't done this myself but I do have a few comments for you. Plasmas have gotten much (much!) better as far as burn in is concerned but I still wouldn't put a stagnant image on for a long period of time. If you change screens every 15 minutes or so, this shouldn't be a problem (however, make sure you have broken the tv in first - this means 20 hours or more of use). It won't be nearly as problematic with light as a projector but plasmas tend to reflect light and should be in a fairly darkened room. Again, the newer ones are better and most have anti-glare screens. I am assuming that you already have the plasmas. If not, LCD would probably be a better way to go for presentations. They don't have a burn-in problem or a light problem. Not as good for video, but better for presentations. The newer LCDs have viewing angles around 170 degrees so that shouldn't be a problem.
