How do I keep DLP screen clean?

Black spot on DLP Screen???

  • I have noticed as of recently that my picture on my Samsung DlP Tv in the middle has a black spot that looks like a shadow. Does anyone know what this is because I ruled out a burn in since DLP Tvs do not get them. What would make the picture do this? Could it be dirt or something of that nature. At first I though maybe the screen itself needed cleaned on the outside but I soon realized the problem is on the inside.

  • Answer:

It appears that something has got into your TV and is in the optical path. If the TV is not too heavy, you can try to turn it upside down for a moment to see if you can move the object out of the optical path. You can get pressurized cans of clean air from a camera store (used to clean film and lenses), and try blowing into any openings in the cabinet. Otherwise, the TV would have to be disassembled and cleaned, a job for a qualified technician. EDIT: This projector has a replaceable lamp assembly. You could remove the lamp as if you were going to replace it, use the clean air pressure can to clean the lamp housing and as much as you can safely reach inside the TV (don't touch anything). Then replace the lamp.
