How to get cable stations back?

How do I get the public broadcasting stations in my area on my LCD? TV? This one is not connected to cable and?

  • TV? This one is not connected to cable and is a stand-alone. I have purchased a new indoor flat antenna (multidimensional-HDTV/VHF/UHF) for my LCD TV and I can get all the local stations and some out-of-the-air HD stations. I am happy with that but I can't seem to get my PBS station. I am only 10 or 11 miles from the tower. I tried programming channels manually because those are the two I need and don't want to touch the settings my son put on for me. These channels are checked under Antenna under the installation section but I still can't get them. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

  • Answer:

You may be too close to pick up a digital signal. They still broadcast in analogue at low power (within a few miles). Do you use a digital box to convert an older set? If so, check to see if they have a "pass through" setting, so that you can pick up the analogue signal. If the set has a built in digital tuner, see if it has a switch to pick up analogue signals. If the set doesn't, you may be able to put an attenuator (a device to reduce the strength of the signal) in line with the antenna. Good luck.
