Do you have to connect aerial to built in freeview tv?

Hi, i am buying a LG TV, it has built in freeview, but i was wondering would i be able to connect my own ?

freeview box to the TV? as the freeview that is built in does not record etc. so i have a hitachi recording freeview box instead, can this be attached? thanks
