Why is my dlp tv flickering?

LG 32" LCD TV flickering at aspect ratio 16:9?

  • I am facing a strange problem with my LG LCD TV. I had no flickering problem for the last 2 years ever since I purchased. But now-a-days, I am seeing flickering problem which sometimes becomes worse. This flickering problem goes away when I change the aspect ratio to anything other than one of 16:9, zoom1 and zoom2. What I mean to say is that the flickering immediately stops for aspect ratio 14:9. Initially, I thought it was a VGA cable problem. But after replacing it with new cables, the problem persisted. I also tried the "Factory Reset" option, but the problem persisted. It was only while changing the aspect ratio that I accidentally figured out that the flickering stops when I change the aspect ratio. Can anyone please help? Can changing the firmware do any help? I am not sure if it is related to Hardware or Software.

  • Answer:

just played around with it and figured it out: Go to >>>Menu >>>Picture - Select your Backlight settings (mines at 16, brightest) and turn OPC ON! I REPEAT, OPC ON. next, go to >>>Advanced (still under picture tab) >>>Range of OPC ----Turn both tabs as far to the RIGHT (making it brighter) as you possibly can. This should fix everything!
