How do you make a Satellite for a TV?

Can i make an antenna that can reciev some satellite tv?

  • i want to make an antenna to see if i can get more channels will it work

  • Answer:

due to the wavelength of the signals involved, there is little chance that you could build an antenna accurately enough to be efficient you may pick up some of the stronger stations but its impractical all joking apart, its technically possible to get a signal reflected of a dustbin lid but again practicalities of holding the position of the lid, the distance from the lid to the lnb the angle between the lnb and the lid who needs it?? you cannot build an lnb however hard you try!

Even if you COULD build the antenna correctly, rather than just buying one built to spec, the signal that you receive will be useless. Satellite TV signals are encoded and require a specific satellite box to decode the signal for your TV. Bite the bullet and buy the service.

I really don't think so. That's why they provide a dish, specially equipped to receive the satellite signal.

The Count

years ago, Popular Science had plans for a satellite dish made from a childs "dish type" snow sled -- unfortunately I don't remember the issue.
