How do i get sound from my laptop to my tv, via HDMI?

How to get sound on tv from HDMI connection from laptop?

• I have bought a HDMI cord, and I am trying to get the sound on the tv to work. It worked once, and i could see and hear everything perfectly on the tv. But now, the sound doesnt seem to work on the tv. I already tried setting my HDMI device as the default, but that doesnt seem to work. Is there anything else I can do??? I've tried restarting my computer while the HDMI cord was in the laptop and the tv, with the tv off, but that doesnt seem to work. I dont know wat's wrong becuase it worked once before. I would really really appreciate it if someone helped me out. And plz dont tell me to go buy another cord of sometype or some other cable, b/c im sure i dont need it cuz the HDMI alone should work.

  Actually, I'm really surprised it did work. I haven't seen a computer yet that provided sound on the HDMI connection. All the computers I've seen have separate audio outputs because they have separate audio and video cards.
