How do I get rid of these diagonal lines on my tv?

We just bought a new 40" LCD TV and the video quality hasn't been very good. There's numerous lines that move diagonally across the screen. It doesn't block the picture but it's super annoying and I can't figure out how to get rid of them. I've tried unplugging the receiver but they're still there. I called Directv after hours and the computerized person's advice didn't help. Is there anything I can do, any suggestions before I call them tomorrow?

Make sure there is no magnets by your TV , That happend to me but on my computer screen, I have to buy a new one, but I'm just gonna complain saying I got it like that, Lol
