What are some good things on tv tonight?

What are some things I should know when buying a TV?

  • I'm going to be buying a TV in the near future, and I want to be informed before I walk into the store. So first off, should I get an LCD or Plasma TV? I've also heard about this new LCD LED technology, what's that about? I want a TV that isn't too big, around 32 inches would cut it for me. I'm a gamer, I frequently play my 360, and I'm also going to be getting HD channels, so that's a must. Also, please tell me what resolution and Hz have to do with the TV and the image. Thanks in advance.

Remember early LCD computer monitors? Gamers hated them because the motion blur was so bad. LCD televisions have the same problem. They try to fix the problem by: * drawing the screen twice as often (called 120 hz) * LCD is 'grey' and not black so they try to make blacks better by putting LED's behind the screen and turning them off in sections if the display is black. All these things to fix the problem with LCD's - cost you more. If you are a gamer - go with Plasma. For the same price you get much better blacks, no motion blur and higher contrast ratio. For the last 3 years - the best display available has always been a Pioneer Kuro plasma. LCD's are getting close - but you have to buy the high-end to get this. Below is a link to a open question on EngadgetHD about what is the better plasma to get. OTHER THINGS TO CHECK: - Better TV's have separate color/brightness/contrast settings PER input. - Better TV's let you select a input directly and this makes it a lot nicer to control with a universal remote. - Better TV's have optical output so you can get 5.1 sound from your HDTV channels out to your receiver. - You will need at least 3 HDMI inputs because a BluRay player will be in your future. More is better.

Your choice should be the Panasonic or Sumsang 32" LCD tv. If you are using this primarily as a monitor for gaming you can get away with a 60HZ instead of the 120HZ or 240HZ which is higher in price. You won't beable to tell the difference between 720P and 1080P in screen size small than a 46", beside that the 1080P is higher in price. Keep in mind that LCD are prone to motion blurness when watching fast action sports or movies. Plasma tv does not have that problem but are prone to screen burn in if you leave a picture frozen for more than 3 hours. Plasma starts at the 42" and larger, but are less expensive that the LCD tvs. Go online to Home theater Magazine and read all the reviews on Plasma and LCD tvs. Hope this will help you out in your selection.

LCD HDTV are generally brighter over Plasma HDTV--that's about it. The higher the resolution, the more revealing images become. Think about if you had on prescription glasses, and you were to look at the STOP word on a stop sign from 65 yards away, you will clearly see each of the letters. Now take the glasses off, and you probably will still see the word, but not as clearly as with the glasses on. That's how resolution play into part. "Herz" with vidoe represents how much or the rate of video or flim frames occuring in a field.

Well first off, a good idea is to read the reviews of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref%255F%3Dnb%255Fss%255Fe%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3Dpanasonic%2520plasma%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Delectronics&tag=clogui-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957 So in that, I do suggest Plasma, and I do suggest Panasonic. Really can't go wrong with either. Best quality, and most affordable. I own a panasonic and play video games all the time on it, I think you'll be quiet pleased. One last tip, buy online. You'll save money.

For gaming I would suggest LCD tv which don't have burn-in problem, less power consumption and last longer. The things that should look when buying LCD tv. - Resolution; if you want it for blu-ray and screen size over 40 inch 1080p is the best but for under 40 inch screen 720p is enough - Dynamic contrast ratio; higher contrast ratio will give you better picture - Response time; less response time value will give you better response - More Hz will give you smoother motion, eliminates any motion blur http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref%255F%3Dnb%255Fss%255Fe%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3Dlcd%2520tv%252032%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Delectronics&tag=computer0bd-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957 LED is the lastest technology for hdtv.Stunning picture with maga dynamic contrast ratio, very thin and 40% less power consumption than conventional hdtv. http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref%255F%3Dnb%255Fss%255Fe%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3Dsamsung%2520led%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Delectronics&tag=computer0bd-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
