Ps3 - LCD HDMI?

just bought new bravia LCD and connected via hdmi to my ps3, when in xmb my Tv recieves 1080i but when I insert a game (GTA IV, Motorstorm) My tv recieves 720p How to get more than 720p when playing a game ? (IN the back part of the game box says 720p/1080i/1080p)
