Sudden Link Cable Box help?

What cable do i need to link freesat HD box with satellite?...and other problems lol!?

  • Hey, i'm thinking of buying my mum freesat HD for christmas, but there is some problems i may need help with. With Freesat it states that you only need a box if you already have a dish, my first problem is that my mum already has a dish on the house, but it was there when she moved in 6 years ago and hasnt been used since. Would this dish be pointing in the right direction for freesat? i can always change its direction if it needs to be pointing somewhere else. Another problem i have is that the cable leading from the dish doesnt have an 'end' to it, just some bare wires, so i need to replace it with a wire to link the dish to the new freesat HD box, dont know what the cable is called though so having problems finding the right one lol :P The reason i dont just get someone in to set it all up for me is because the boxes are a hundred quid and they all charge at least another £75 to a hundred quid to install a dish, i dont want to double the cost for no reason. Cheers for the help guys :)

  • Answer:

Can be done yourself, but you need to brush up on it. You will need a different LNB on the dish, to run a second cable, for starters, as you do with Sky +. Freesat is the free channels that are on the Sky satellite, so no need to re-align it. http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/page18.htm
