What's the difference between HDTV, LCD, plasma, and DLP TVs?

  • What's the difference between HDTV, LCD, plasma, and DLP TVs? Which is better? What brand do you recommend most?

  • Answer:

this answer could be very long but im gonna try to make it short. hdtv is a standard of quality of relsolution. lcd ,plasma.dlp .are types or tvs.almost all are hd, but you want to make sure it is, not ed or sd. lcd or lliquid crystal display, can be flat panel ( the thin ones) or rear projection,(alittle thicker, bigger and cheaper) plasma. is the thin ones usually bigger.so there are two kinds of the thin tvs or flat panel. plasma and lcd flat panel. dlp or digital light projector. is also a projection and can look similar in shape and size and price to a lcd projection. . the lcd and dlp projections are the cheapest big screens. but have a projection lamp that can and will blow like a light bulb. and cost 300-500$ a pop to replace. the best quality is lcd flat panel or plasma.both have goods and bads but are about the same in price and longevity. the plasmas the best at reproducing natural color. and have best color picture. ( some would disagree with me) but use the most electricity out of them all. im going to limit it to that for now. oh and stick with good name brands such as. panasonic (my#1), hitachi (also great). toshiba, sony(i usually dont prefer for personal reasons) ,samsung.mitsibishi (projection), and stay away from less expensive ones. they are cheaper for a reason. beleive me. this is a long term investment you dont want to skimp on quality.
