What is the best large screen TV?

I have a cracked LCD TV screen, what is the best way of dealing with it?

  • I recently cracked my LCD TV screen on accident with my TV remote. I asked around, looked on the internet, but I can't find a satisfactory way of dealing with the problem. It isn't physically cracked, you can only see the cracks when the TV is on. The sound works, but the picture doesn't come out because of the cracks. I know it costs about the same as a new TV to replace the panel, but is there any cheap way to fix it? I also want to know how to sell the TV to someone who wants the parts and how much I should ask for it... I bought the TV in 2006 and the warranty ends in 2009. The model is KDL46XBR2, 46", Sony, specifically a Bravia TV. Thanx in advance!

Sorry you don't like the answers you've received, so far, but it is a fact that if you have broken a LCD panel, you either live with it or trash it and get a new one! The cost to replace this LCD screen will be just about as much as it would cost to get a new one. And no, this damage is NOT covered by a warranty or homeowners insurance!! As far as some special "accidental damage" insurance, I'm not familiar with ANY insurance that will cover breaking an LCD screen with the remote. :) Don't shoot the messenger(s). You could TRY to sell it on eBay, but there is virtually no market for LCDs with broken panels.

the cheapest and most likely your only way to deal with it is to ask the bin man to dump it for you. the screen is the most expensive part of your entire TV. the cost of repair + transportation will likely equal to or exceed the cost of a new TV.

Ouch, that's a bummer. Your S.O.L. The only thing you could do is have the LCD panel replaced or buy a new tv. The best place to sell your Bravia for parts is on Ebay.

I would normally tell you to just replace it but considering it is a SONY you will probly have some good warranty. Phone sony and ask them what to do. They will tell you where to take it and they will fix for free. But don't tell them what happened...play dumb and say I have no idea how it happened.
