Answer:
If you're looking to get a 42" TV you really don't need a 1080p! A lot of people are lead to believe that 1080p is the best and that you have to have it watch true High Def! This is not true! 1080p is only necessary if you are getting a TV larger than say 45" or so, under that it's just a waste of money! You can go with a 720p TV and be just fine! You will save a little money and maybe get a better brand like Samsung or LG! But it's up to you, this is a suggestion! I own a Panasonic 42" 720p Plasma HDTV and my HD content look outstanding on it!

Flat panel LCD? I went with samsung 51", notable for the red outlining. It's a little more expensive since it's 51" but I can assure you it's the best out there. For 42", I'd guess Philips is the best, but I'm not sure.

You have picked nearly every bottom-of-the-barrel brand with the exception of "Dynex" and "Lutron". You will never find a good review of any of these because they are so cheap - nobody even bothers trying to review them. Congrats on doing your homework for price, but shame on you for using price as your only criteria. There are lots of really good LCD televisions for just a bit more money, but from companies that make much better and more reliable units. Look into Sharp Aquos or Samsung as better brands but not the most expensive. You wont get LED backlight or perhaps 120 refresh rate, but you wont have all the reliability problems. (A co-worker told me a relative who works for a trucking company has noticed they are doing brisk business - removing defective Vizio televisions from stores after Christmass. Vizio seems to go through waves of good, good, bad, good units over time. You might be lucky to get one made on a 'good' day, or perhaps not. You also need to budget to upgrade your TV service to HD. The number one mistake people make is to bring home the new HDTV, and plug in standard def service .... and it looks like crap.
