Connecting a new dvd player to TV?

Problems Connecting DVD player to TV ?

  • - I have an old RCA TV (model j20300bl ) which only has a coaxial cable input (no rca or s-video). - I do not have the original remote control but have a "learning" remote with tv/video button. The original remotes have a "display" button which I'm assuming is the same as "input" Cable TV goes to DVD input, DVD output goes to TV. I can watch cable TV without a problem but cannot watch DVD's. There is no "line" or "input" option in the TV menu. - Channels 91, 92, and 93 are usually the "input" channels on older RCA's but this does not work for me since these are regular channels with shows. - Channel 00 (which is also the "input" on some older RCA tv's, does not work. It automatically goes to channel 3 when I enter 00 on the remote. Any suggestions how I can watch DVD's with this TV?

  • Answer:

When you use the coaxial input of a TV, you are going in through the TV's tuner and the only way to do that is via the use of a RF modulator of some sort. I am afraid this is going to give you an absolutely terrible picture. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103095
