Looking for a LCD tv worth the money?

Best LCD TV....?

  • I am looking for an LCD flat panel HD 1080p TV. I am looking in the 48 inch + range. Money is not a huge factor (looking to spend $5000 or less). I am looking for the BEST tv for the money. Anyone with experience or just LOVES there LCD let me know!! (I will be picking a best answer by the way =] )

  • Answer:

The February issue of Consumer Reports has just come out with reviews of many TVs. The highest rated 46" LCD TV was the Sony KDL-46XBR5. The highest rated 52" LCD was the Sony KDL-52XBR4. Both are under $4000. I have a Sony 40", and yes, I do love it! I bought it because of it's good rating in CR's November issue, and they were correct!

I work at Circuit City and must say that the Sony XBR4 and XBR5 lcd tv's are amazing. The 120hertz is something that is often overlooked, but it makes movements extremely smooth. This will look amazing with a 1080p source such as blu-ray... If not a Sony, Samsung makes an amazing lcd as well.

If you really want the best LCD flat panel, go online to nuvision.com and check them out. Forget Samsung (excellent) and Sharp (still excellent). Once you see a Nu Vision you will understand. You can't buy them in stores or online. You have to go to a showroom. We were told about them by techs and went to see them in Dayton, OH (one of their showrooms). I was totally blown away. Some execs at Marantz wanted to get out of the speaker business and focus on tvs. They wanted American made quality and equipment at its highest. They formed Nu Vision and from there is history. They were the first to fix the problem with the black quality on LCDs. They are the only company that you don't have to buy an extended warranty with. It's automatic with the tv. If you figure average viewing time with the hours that it will hold up on, it figures out to be around 20 years. It works on a color wheel. It's just fantastic. We have a 47 inch LCD HD and it is true 1080p. The picture quality, the sound the whole thing. Check it out and you'll totally agree. Also, it's priced around the same as the store models. Our 47 inch was 3700. That's not bad for what we got and everything in the stores these days that's affordable is 720 not 1080p. If you have any questions, either go online or get back to me. I checked the whole thing out thoroughly before my husband and I went to see it.
