I have U-Verse cable TV, does anyone know how to split a signal to another set.?

Technician that came to install said I would have to run ugly wires outside my home along the gutters to get cable to the other side of my house. I would rather not. Any ideas?

The only way you can do this is to "Mirror" the second TV set. As to wire around the house why cann't he drop a line into the basement by drilling a hole in the floor and bring it up on the other side of the house where you want the second TV? I used to do this all the time doing an install. To mirror is to hook up the output from he U-Verse box and split it there. Then one goes to your main TV the second lead goes to the second TV. The reason it is called Mirror is because the two TV's will show the exact same things or if one program is playing on one TV that same program is playing on the second TV. This is no good if two people want to watch two different shows at the same time. For a single guy like me though it works fine. The TV in the living room has the box and the TV in my bedroom is Mirrored off the living room TV. So if I am watching a show in the living room I can go into the bedroom and the same show is playing on the TV in my bedroom. As I say it works fine for me because I can only watch one program at a time. I can control the TV in the living room from my bedroom because I have an IR remote control extender. I have tried a lot to get two show playing at the same time, the U-Verse is the cutting edge technology and they have it so no average mortal can not split, hack or steal a signal from them without them knowing it. Sorry if this is not what you are trying to do, but it is an honest answer. I hope this helps, Good Luck!

Redbrd is spot on... I will just add a little that is perhaps a bit more UVerse specific. While the UVerse installer may not want to run wire in the attic/basement, you sure can. (or you can hire someone else to do it.) You have a couple of choices when running the cable: A) Run COAX (round "cable TV" cable) from one of your set top boxes to the location of the other TV. Then you can "mirror" that box as Redbrd said. (You will need a remote control extender) If you run it from your DVR then you can mirror your DVR service on both TVs. B) Run ethernet (computer cable) from your AT&T Uverse gateway to the location of your new TV. Then rent another Set Top Box from AT&T. You will have full service on the TV. But you will have to pay for the extra set top box. (Why ethernet? Assuming that you are using COAX between your AT&T Gateway and current Set Top Boxes, you could split into that COAX cable and connect another Set Top Box. But UVerse is sensitive to signal loss that comes with splitting the coax cable, and ethernet eliminates that loss.) C) If you are going to run cable in the attic/basement anyway, why not run both ethernet and COAX. That way you can start using a mirror setup and if you dont like it, you can order an additional set top box from AT&T for full service. If you do this be sure to run the ethernet to the AT&T Gateway, and the COAX to a set top box. D) You could get a wireless video sender (Search Amazon for "Wireless Video" for some options. These are SD only... and depending on how far you need to go, and what other wireless devices you have, they may solve the problem and allow "mirroring" without any new wires. Because these depend on getting a good clean signal, I would recommend making sure you can return em if they dont work out for you. Good Luck!
