Black spots on my LCD TV?
-
I've had this LCD TV for a few years now, and for a couple months there have been black spots on it. They are semi-see through, and are static (there all the time, same place). Its kind of like what happens when you push down on an LCD screen, but nothing has or is pressing down on it. I have a picture at the following showing what I mean: http://www.classicmonkeyshine.net/lcd.jpg Any ideas?!?!

Answer:
LCD is the abbriviation of Liquid Christal Display. This means that the screen doesnt have the normal laserbeem. The method is quite different. There are millions of christal balls in the screen that are controlled by a small computerunit. This unit tells them when to light up. The problem you currently have, is that some balls are burned. You can compare this with LED lamps on a car. Sometimes just one is not burning...same thing as with your tv. Nowadays, there are shops than car fix this problem. But as the tv, it's not cheap.

This is known as pixel drop-out. I have fixed these in the past by flicking them with a finger nail, a trick taught to me by the IBM labs who produced the very first LCD flat panel colour display. But at your own risk, of course.
