I have dark spots on my LCD TV.

Green and Red Spots on Panasonic LCD TV?

  • I have a Panasonic LCD Model PT-61LCX65. It's just over a year old and has Red and Green and one blue spot on the screen. You can mostly notice them when darker colors are being displayed. I can't find any info on what this might be caused from. I don't believe it's the bulb though. Any ideas??

  • Answer:

You said SPOTS....not pixels. Spots the size of a quarter are generally DUST that has gotten into the Light Engine and it's blocking the light off of the LCD panel..... You need a TV Tech to Safely open up the unit and blow the dust off the optical path......the guy has got to have BIG 'Nads to do that, Because SOME units should just have the Optical Engine replaced, instead of opening them up to introduce MORE dust into a sealed engine..... DON'T do this yourself, and remember THAT Big-Nad Tech is TRYING to save you money so you DON'T have to buy a NEW light engine anyways.....It's a Last-Ditch effort before spending $800 to $1000 for a Light Engine.....
