How long does it take for a plasma TV to burn in permanently?

Screen burn on a Samsung PN50C450B1D 50" 720p Plasma TV...help!?

  • I just bought this TV about 2 days ago now, primarily for gaming, the guy at ABC warehouse knew that and reccomended this one, it was a steal along with him throwing in some free monster HDMI cables, but last night I played MW2 for about an hour on it, and when I shut the PS3 off, and the screen was black, I could see all the stuff like etched into the screen like the radar, and the weapon info, so I was horribly pissed (I only played for about an hour!), so I shut it off, and and turned it back on like a half hour later to watch some TV before bed, and it was still there. Now this morning I turn the TV on and its gone....should I take the TV back and goto an LCD or LED? I really love this tv and want to keep it but im just curious as to why there was a "temporary" screen burn, is that just due to it being a plasma, and something I shouldnt worry about?

  • Answer:

I wouldn't worry about it. probably just flouresence left over from the excited gas. If you do go LCD, make sure the LED can turn diodes off for black in order to get better contrast. http://www.digitaldisplays.co.nz/
