Do LCD and especially plasma TVs use much more electricity than CRT TVs?
-
I read an article in US News & World Report that LCD TVs and especially plasma TVs use a lot more electricity than conventional CRT TVs. Has anyone found that to be true?
-
Answer:
This is extremely incorrect. While LCD's are not efficient at doing their job, they use a lot less power than a CRT tv. Plasma TVs use as much electricity as a CRT if not more (at bigger sizes). LCD uses a low power lamp that is really bright, but the reason I said it isn't efficient is because most of the lamp's light is filtered by the panel and lost before it reaches your eyes. Hope this helps!
