How to hook up my computer to my tv through my cable box?

• i hooked up my computer through windows 7 media center with my xbox elite but that is not what i want done i want to be able to look at my internet on my tv and my symphonic lcd hdtv does not have an hdmi cable port but my computer and my hd dvr (8300 hdc) cable box does i was just wondering if there was a way i could hook up my computer to my cable box and see the display on my tv with out going out and buying another cable

  No you can't. The cable box ports are designed for output, not input. It only has the one input (coaxial) for taking the feed from the wall. Its designed to decode and output that signal, not any others. And again, the other ports on it will output signals, not take inputs. That's what you need to look out for, is how the communication lines are working. Where is the information outputting and where its it inputting. If the device can't take the necessary input then it can't generate the necessary output. So I think you're stuck having to get another cable in order to create your hook-up. If your HDTV does not have an HDMI port, then you might even need to deal with a converter box. Something that can convert HDMI to Component HD (if that's the type of HD your TV takes). Those aren't super cheap, but may well be the only way to actually get the signal flow to work the way you want. Unless does your TV have a PC input (D-sub/VGA)? And then does your computer have VGA output? You could then just use a VGA cable. If the video card and TV support it, VGA itself is capable of HD resolutions. Still another cable, but a pretty straight forward hook up, if the ports are there.
