Recording UK digital tv - why does it just stop...?
-
Wanted to record the shield on five us last night. used the one button record from the epg on my new(to me) ebuyer wharfedale freeview dvd recorder. Still not trusting it completely, I thought because of dvd rw's used on old recorder, I also set it to record on the computer tv card epg, which uses a completely different ariel etc, ie a completely separate system. Checked this morning and they both stopped at 15 minutes in. same point that I can see. Power and everything was fine. Is it the technology? a poltergeist? or even the wife? any ideas? is it just how these epg programmed recorders work? ie crap. Thanks

Answer:
EPG recordings don't quit EXACTLY at 15 minutes on TWO different units... Your TV station must have quit...OR they have the capability to shut off all recorders and sent a code to do so. I can't believe that...No DVR manufacturer would stoop so low as to let the Station owners / Show producers DICTATE what their recorders are allowed to do... Oh wait....I live in the US. Maybe over there, they are allowed to shut down your recordings.. The interesting part is two devices shutting down at the same time.....

Hi there. Roy has got it, if you look in your book you will find a single press records what you are watching for 15 minutes. It is a pain in the butt, call up the epg screen itself and do it there - that will work. As a note, epg starts 2 minutes early and overruns by a similar amount, so if dealing with BBC in particular it is worth adding 10 mins to the end (press the Timers key and adjust it in there, easy!) . Cheers, Steve.

I'm going to go with the poltergeist !!!! LOL whats the chances though of the two of them stopping at the same time. LOL There must have been in blip in your electricity for a second and it turned them both off maybe ?

One touch recording on my DVDR records for 15 minutes per press or four presses for an hour. Selected recording time is displayed on TV for a short time.

I'd blame the dvds was having exactly the same issue until i switched dvds
