How can I hook up my laptop (with no HDMI) to my tv?

How do I hook my windows 7 laptop up to a lcd 720p dynex tv with hdmi?

  • I have a toshiba satellite l755 laptop with windows 7, and have no problems hooking it up to my 47 in. Sony bravia which is 1080p 120hz tv, I just plug it in with the hdmi cable and it displays on both my laptop and the tv. However I recently got a new 36 in. Dynex 720p, 60hz tv for my bedroom and when I plug in my laptop both screens go blank, I even have to hard power down my laptop just to get the display back on my laptop screen. When I try to power up the laptop with it plugged in it will display the initial booting up process on both tv and laptop but as soon as windows is up they both go blank.

  • Answer:

Update the video driver from Toshiba's website and then enjoy! I had the same problem and it worked for me after I updated the driver

Michael, you've done everything right as far as I can tell. I suspect the problem is with the Dynex. Can you try a different laptop on the Dynex? That would be instructive.
